Why does the ice cream clerk put a cone in your hand and then expect you to use that hand to pay?

Have you ever been to an ice cream shop and had the scooper insist on putting a cone in your hand while you are trying to get your wallet to pay for it? Does this annoy you? How does he expect you to pull out the wallet and then dig out the money when one hand is unavailable? Why does the ice cream clerk put a cone in your hand and then expect you to use that hand to pay?
I would guess they're giving it to you so they can get it out of their hands to take your money. :)Why does the ice cream clerk put a cone in your hand and then expect you to use that hand to pay?
Would you pay for an ice cream before it is dipped? What if it was too small or unsatisfactory after you paid? Don't you want to see it first?
hahaha yeah, but mainly the scoopers where i go put it in a little stand when they've done their scooping.

a clever little invention that one.
No, here you pay first, then they make the cone!
i know! especially since sometimes the cone can't stand up on it's own...

anyway why do you need to put this on yahoo answers? let's try to actually keep this system useful! :)
