What kind of crust should i use for a COCONUT CREAM PIE?

this is my first time making a coconut cream pie, i was wondering what would be the best kind of crust to use? I have the recipe for a graham cracker crust but i'm wondering what kind of crust would compliment the pie? I am making an ''old fashioned'' coconut cream pie, not sure if that makes a difference ;)

Basic Pie Crust (Pate Brisee)





2陆 cups all purpose flour


陆 tsp + dash salt


1陆 sticks cold unsalted butter, in bits


4 Tbsp. cold shortening


Ice water





In large bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in butter and shortening until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Add 2 Tbsp. Ice water and stir; add more water sparingly as necessary to form dough into a ball. Dust with flour and chill, wrapped in wax paper or plastic wrap, for 1 hour. Makes enough for one double crust pie or 2 single crusts.

welll...hmmm you could use a regular pie crust, preferably a flaky one. or you could be more creative and make a coconut pie crust...those r sooo good. u just use shredded coconut and mix it with some butter and a drop of vanilla or you could mix it with some chocolate and cool it. and make a chocolate mousse for the top. have fun...hope u like my ideas!...for the old fashion, id go with the flaky old fashion crust....but creativity is best if you're doing this for a cooking class...
Graham cracker crust is traditional and great with any cream pie, but regular flaky is good too.





It really depends who is going to be doing the eatin'!





If it's for me, I'll take the graham cracker!
I would use a traditional pie crust. I buy the ones in the refrigerator case. If using a graham cracker crust, I would go with chocolate graham cracker crust.
I would use graham cracker crust. it is the most logical for coconut creme pie. happy eating.
graham cracker crust is great with cream pies
um.... i'd say a traditional pie crust is best. :)
