our 7 month old loves going out with us and we always carry her baby food but when it comes to dessert we were wondering if she can share ours - we both usually order vanilla ice cream and we dont want to start her on chocolate for atleast 2 years.By what age is it safe to give a baby a couple of spoons of vanilla ice cream?
Keep in mind the sooner you start her on sugar the more likely she will love it as she grows older. The longer you can keep her from it the more likely she may not even care for it when she grows up. I love sweets and it has been a battle to not over indulge. Ice cream is not the healthiest and she would be better off if you could teach her that fruits or vegetables are treats.By what age is it safe to give a baby a couple of spoons of vanilla ice cream?
We have been giving our son a little bit of ice-cream since he was about 5 months old, he is 7 1/2 months now. As long as you don't give her a lot, she should be okay.
To be safe wait until age 1, but if you wanted to put a little teeny bit you your spoon for a taste it probably won't hurt anything.
you should hold off on the sugery stuff for as long as possible. let her get used to only have the good/healthy stuff.
if she can drink regular 2% milk she can have vanilla ice cream
about age 1
i started mine when they were 8 months old
becca hit it on the head...be careful...dont want baby to have allergic reaction....make sure you watch for rashes or irritability afterwards so that you know for the future.
I think that it would be fine to give her one or two of her spoonfuls, be careful because she's not supposed to have the 'real' milk until she is one year.
It will not hurt to give her a couple of spoons full. I wouldn't give the whole dish however.
Since it contains whole milk... it's advised to wait until their first B-day. Ask your pediatrician though.
I think any age will be ok
VANILLA ICE CREAM IS FINEEE!!! its like milk
I think it's fine at 7 months. We gave our baby ice cream at that age. Just watch out, because it's cow's milk and too much could make them develop an allergy.
i would say she would be fine...my son was 4 months old and eating bites of my chocolate pudding..a little ice cream wont hurt a thing...unless she is on a soy formula..then watch for any allergy signs..my son was on soy and now is 2 and still is milk makes him very sick..but try it if she handles it well then shes fine
She should be old enough to try this, though I would try it at home first just to be sure she isn't allergic. This way you could control the brand and ingredients she would be exposed to, as they do vary. The only thing I would really worry about would be the sugar or artificial ingredients if you are trying to avoid them.
anytime!!! :) a couple little spoonfuls wouldn't hurt
Neither of my boys had ice cream until they were a year old (had it on their first birthdays). If you give her just a bite or two, it won't hurt her unless she has a dairy allergy. Just don't give her a half cup every night, lol. A bite or two won't hurt.
vanilla does not equal chocolate, just so you know.
vanilla ice cream comes from cream, a dairy product.
Your not planning on making this poor baby fat, are you? How do you have room for desert when you go out? After the main meal, we get our check and waddle out.
I havn't answered your question yet! I'm sorry.
I'm sure it is safe, just put a little bit on your spoon and see if s/he likes it! Make sure it isn't too cold though. And please, don't spoil the poor kid!
sure give her a little ice cream she'll love it. My 9 month old has been eating ice cream for a while now.
any age
yea its safe, just be watchful for any allreigies
well they're not supposed to have cows milk till 12 months to prevent them from developing alergies but i'm sure a little bite of icecream shouldn't hurt. ask your Pediatrician. be prepared though that baby isn't going to want to stop after just one bite!
I don't see why not. I can't imagine a tiny bit would hurt her. If you are really apprehensive you could order vanilla frozen yogurt instead. YUM! My daughter hates the cold. I made her diluted apple juice popsicles and I could tell she loved the flavor but couldn't stand the fact that it was so cold.
i started my baby eating ice cream at 5 months
couple of spoonfulls won't hurt
