What do you think works better vasoline w/powder or white diaper rash cream? Also, does it matter how thick you put either one on your baby or should you just apply a thin layer and try to rub it in really well. Sorry if the last question sounded weird I am just curious on how other people do it. I use vasoline and I PACK in on my baby's buttom and then I sprinkle some powder. Answers greatly appreciated!Which is better vasoline or diaper rash cream?
Vasoline.Which is better vasoline or diaper rash cream?
i think the moist important thing is that the skin is clean and absolutely dry before you put (either) cream on
otherwise you are trapping moisture underneath and any soreness will take longer to heal
boudreaux's buttpaste is the best cream i've used
Vaseline works just as well as those sometimes expensive creams. You definitely don't want to rub them in because you need it to act as a barrier when your baby goes to the bathroom. If its rubbed in some pee could still sit on their skin. Sounds like you're doing it right although most Drs don't recommend powder anymore because they believe it could lead to respiratory problems.
The Ointment with zinc like desitin is much better, it protects with a barrier like Vaseline, but also has zinc which promotes healing. Baby powder is really not a good idea. Since it is a fine powder and usually gets in the air, it has a potential of getting into a baby/childs lungs. So if you use the powder be extra careful not to squeeze it out too high, just gently let it pour onto babies bottom. Keep babies bottom dry as best you can and apply ointment with each diaper change, especially at night.

Boudreauxs Butt Paste is the best I have used hands down!!!
Cornstarch, the kind you cook with....absorbs moisture.
